In April 2025, I went to Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, to see a live show. It was a small underground venue, and we lined up on the stairs before doors opened.

The guy in front of me had the exact same music taste. I talked to him during the break — turns out he was from Taiwan, visiting Japan on a family trip.

My English was terrible, but we showed each other our music libraries and conversation just flowed. Our playlists overlapped in ways that surprised us both.

We hung out in Tokyo, went back to our countries, and kept talking online. Then one day — my favorite band was headlining a festival in Taiwan.

I'd never been to Taiwan, but I thought: music and a friend, that's reason enough. So I went. We hit the festival together and explored every corner of Taipei.

At one of the music shops he took me to, there was this thing:

WRITE ONE, TAKE ONE!

Write down a song, put it in, take out someone else's. A brilliant idea. I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the trip.

That's how this service came to be.
